What we line up
Tree services across Yavapai County
Twelve kinds of tree work, each written up for the trees and terrain of this county, from Groom Creek pines to Verde River cottonwoods.
Tree Removal
Dead pines, failing elms and junipers in the eaves, taken down in sections when there is a roof underneath.
Tree Trimming
Roof clearance, deadwood out and lower limbs lifted, timed around pine beetle season.
Storm Cleanup
A tree on the roof, the car or the driveway after a monsoon microburst, a lightning strike or a wet spring snow.
Stump Grinding
Stumps ground below grade, even when they are wrapped around granite or behind a narrow gate.
Defensible Space
Firewise thinning in the zones at 5, 30 and 100 feet around your home, junipers and ladder fuels first.
Dead Pine Removal
Beetle-killed ponderosa and pinyon taken down while the wood is still sound, with the infested wood dealt with.
Hazard Tree Checks
A trained look at the cracked fork, the leaning pine or the dead top over the garage. Keep, prune or remove.
Lot Clearing
Juniper, scrub oak and pine thickets cleared for a build, a survey or a pasture, by hand or by mulcher.
View Pruning
Thumb Butte, Mingus or the red rocks back in the window, without topping the trees that block them.
Mistletoe Removal
Juniper, desert and dwarf mistletoe cut out of junipers, mesquite, cottonwoods and pines.
Cabling & Bracing
Support for split forks and twin trunks, so a valuable old tree can stay standing safely.
Brush Chipping
The pile from a weekend of limbing and clearing, chipped on site or hauled away before fire season.

Common questions
Before you call
How much does tree service cost in Prescott?
It depends on the tree, what's under it and how a crew gets to it. A small juniper in an open yard is a short job; a tall pine over a roof that has to come down in roped sections can take a crew most of a day. Every job gets a written price after someone has looked at the tree, before any work starts.
Are the crews licensed and insured?
Yes. Yavapai Tree Service is a dispatch and referral line, and the work is done by independent tree companies that hold an Arizona ROC license and carry liability insurance. Ask the crew for the license number and look it up on the Registrar of Contractors website.
Do you cover the Verde Valley as well as Prescott?
Yes. Calls are taken for Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt in the Prescott basin, and for Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Sedona and Clarkdale in the Verde Valley, and matched with a crew that works that side of Mingus Mountain.
When is the best time to trim pine trees here?
Late fall through winter. Fresh pine cuts give off a scent that draws bark beetles, and the beetles are most active from spring into summer. Dead limbs are the exception: they can come out any time.
A tree just fell on my house. What do I do?
Get everyone out of the rooms under it, stay away from any wires, and call 911 if a power line is involved or anyone is hurt. Take photos, then call (928) 766-TREE. Calls are taken 24 hours a day.
